Loss & Grief: For those coping
with loss associated with death, divorce, or crisis. The approaches used
are aimed to facilitate emotional integration, repair damage to self-worth
and security, provide normality and guidance within grieving process.
Social Skills: Enhancement skill
training for overcoming shyness, making friends, asserting self with peers
and authority figures, conflict resolution, problem solving.
Self-Esteem: For those with impaired
self-image, self-destructive patterns,
poor peer selection, low regard for future, apathy.
Domestic Abuse: Offering informed
support and corrective reorganization for those coping with past or
present abuse - sexual, physical and/or emotional - to self or witnessed
in family setting. Appropriate for those needing to establish trust,
emotional healing, developing boundaries, restoring identity.
Anger Management: Whether expressed
as unfit outbursts, violence, or self-destructive behaviors counseling can
be used to develop impulse control skills and non-violent beliefs through
the use of self-monitoring skill training, health peer culture,
constructive direct communication skills.
Family Problems: For family troubles
manifesting as acting out, truancy, stealing, non-compliance with parental
limits, drug and alcohol abuse. Includes establishing and facilitating
home-school behavior agreements to correct behavior/poor performance.
Underachievement:: Through use of
effective environmental controls and motivation methods used to improve
academic performance and generalized underfunctioning.
